Working in Raleigh
Air conditioners run most of the year, so undersized panels and loose connections tend to overheat in summer. Lightning and hurricane outages make surge protection and generator hookups common requests, and you should ask how outdoor equipment will be raised or sealed against flooding.
Raleigh is the centre of the Research Triangle, with one of the densest concentrations of biotech, pharma, and IT employers in the country. North Carolina's banking, biotech (RTP), and furniture-and-textiles legacy operate in a humid subtropical climate where building envelopes, HVAC, and pest cycles run aggressively year-round.

Questions
Do you take electrical upgrades and repairs jobs in Raleigh?
Yes. Requests from Raleigh, Charlotte, Greensboro, Durham and the rest of North Carolina are handled the same way. Use the quote form on this page, or email [email protected] with the service, the address and the timing.
How much does a panel or service upgrade cost?
It varies a lot. Replacing a panel on the same service is a smaller job than going from 100 to 200 amps, which can involve a new meter base, new service cable, utility coordination and sometimes a new mast or trenching. Permits, inspection, the number of circuits to move and access all affect the price. The reliable number is a written quote after an assessment.
Is knob-and-tube or aluminum wiring dangerous?
Neither is automatically dangerous, but both are old technology. Knob-and-tube has no ground and its insulation gets brittle with age, and early aluminum branch wiring can overheat at connections. Many insurers ask about both. An inspection shows their condition and whether a repair, a partial rewire or a full rewire makes sense.
Do I need a permit for electrical work?
In most places, yes, for anything beyond swapping a fixture or device like for like, and the work is inspected by the local electrical authority. The rules depend on your province or state and your municipality. A proper quote should say which permits are needed and who takes care of them.
Can I connect a portable generator to my house?
Only through a transfer switch or an approved interlock and inlet, never by plugging it into an outlet. A proper connection keeps the generator from feeding power back into the utility lines, where it can injure line workers. A standby generator with an automatic transfer switch is the hands-off option.
My breaker keeps tripping. What should I do?
A breaker that trips is doing its job: the circuit is overloaded or there is a fault. Unplug what is on the circuit and reset it once. If it trips again right away, or you smell burning or see scorch marks, leave it off and request an assessment.
